Chillar Party had a poor start of 15-20%. The film is dependent on word of mouth.

Murder 2 had a strong start of 70-75% on its first day. The film started strong and was even stronger in the evening especially single screens. The reports are mixed but the film will emerge a huge success based on the huge initial it has taken.

Delhi Belly had an excellent first week of 36.50 crore nett. The film did very well in Mumbai, Delhi/Up and East Punjab while Mysore was excellent. Delhi Belly may emerge a Super Hit depending on what happens over second weekend.

Bbuddah Hoga Teraa Baap is a poor fare with 9.75 crore nett week. The film was steady with low collections on weekdays but dropped on second Friday. FLOP

Double Dhamaal collected 7.25 crore nett in its second week taking its two week total to 43.75 crore nett. ABOVE AVERAGE

Murder 2 Has Good Opening

Murder 2 took a good opening with collections around the 60-65% mark on average. There were some stations in Gujarat and CI which opened to 80% plus but on the other hand South India opened to 35-40% collections.

The film should collect well at most places over the weekend. The low collections may well come in the high end prime multiplexes where Delhi Belly is so strong especially in places like Bangalore and Gurgaon.

The other release of the week Chillar Party is a word of mouth film and had a low turnout as far as its opening shows were concerned.

Bbuddah Hoga Terra Baap Has Low Monday

Bbuddah Hoga Terra Baap had low collections on Monday of around 90 lakhs. The collections were steady but too low and the film will wrap its first week around the 9.25-9.50 crore nett mark.

This year films that have not opened well have tended to trend well on weekdays but on the lower side and Bbuddah Hoga Terra Baap is another addition to this list.

The Delhi Belly wave at multiplexes and to a lesser extent Transformers 3 has meant the film has simply failed to collect at multiplexes. Single screen numbers are better but not at the level that the film can score from just single screen business alone. The Delhi NCR and Punjab area has very bad collections.

Delhi Belly has emerged a hit film with rock solid collections of 4.75 crore nett approx on Monday.

It has seen a just a 20-25% drop from Friday and all major circuits are super strong while the smaller circuits are rock steady but on lower side. Delhi/UP collected 1.05 crore nett on Monday while Friday was 1.27 crore nett.

The four day business is around 26 crore nett and the week should finish around the 37 crore nett mark.

The collections at the best prime multiplexes of the country like PVR Ambience or PVR Bangalore are even better than Ready. Single screens have done average business but even still circuits CP Berar, CI and Rajasthan have done okay as multiplexes in these circuits are doing decent business.

United Kingdom – £156,000

North America – $600,000

UAE – $400,000

Australia – Aus $150,000

Delhi Belly is looking like the fifth solid hit film of 2011 after Yamla Pagla Deewana, Tanu Weds Manu, Haunted 3D and Ready.

The early numbers for Monday are suggesting that the day could come out to be over 4.50 crore nett, just a 30% fall from Friday.

The film seems to be royally accepted by its target audience which is the urban youth.

All the major metros and major centres with prime multiplexes are rock solid on Monday. The other centres are also steady but at lower levels.

Delhi Belly Has Good First Weekend

Delhi Belly scored well over the weekend with first weekend being around 21.50 crore nett. The approx breakdowns were 6 crore nett on Friday, 7 crore nett on Saturday and 8.25-8.50 crore nett on Sunday.

The film has done excellent business in the urban areas while other areas have seen average business. The best business has come in Mysore while the Gujarat/ Saurashtra belt did not perform. North India has been good especially Delhi city, Gurgaon and Chandigarh though UP did not collect well.

Delhi Belly has shown good growth on all three days of the weekend. The film is a success and the next few days will tell how big of a success it is.

Bbuddah Hoga Terra Baap had a poor weekend of around 6-6.25 crore nett. The film picked up well on Saturday and Sunday but the the base level was too low.

The film will have to have very strong weekdays if it is to have a half decent first week.

The film did better at some single screens in Gujarat and Maharashtra but multiplex business was poor all over and the film collected very badly in the North with East Punjab being 45 lakhs approx and Delhi/UP collecting 1.35 crore nett.

The film has low costs so it may make money but theatrical business is very poor over its first weekend.
